2 days post surgery - 2 Tage nach der OP

Wait on the LORD, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!
Psalms 27:14

Psalm 27, 14

Olevander continues to heal and progress nicely. Praise the Lord!
The big news today: He got his breathing tube out, and is off the respirator ... and his voice is still there. Several other main lines and drains have been removed. Miriam, however, who saw him for the first time since the surgery still thought he was buried in a 'jungle of lines'.

We are a little behind with downloading pictures. So let me show you these pictures from the day BEFORE his surgery, taken on July 4.

Juli.

Olevander is peeking over to Mutti while on her arm during a change of bedding. Notice how his chest is still untouched. By now he can sport his scar there.

Kirstin is allowed to hold Olevander for the first time since holding him right at his birth.

Olevander one day before his Norwood surgery.
Olevander einen Tag vor seiner Norwood-OP.

Olevander sucks on his pacifier. I have to admit that I never was a big fan of pacifiers. From a photographer's point of view  it covers so much of baby's face, and from a breastfeeding mother's point of view it might take away from nursing.
But as the poor little guy has not been allowed to have anything by mouth since his birth - let alone to nurse - his pacifier has become very important to him. We hope it gives his sucking reflex a good workout and it will prepare him to breastfeed soon.

Olevander saugt kraeftig an seinem Nuckel.
