Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us; Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus for all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Eph. 3:20
Earlier we got the update that Olevander was taken off the bypass and then - the decicive moment: His heart began to beat on his own again!
The next message was that the surgeons were closing his chest. To appreciate these news you have to know that a good number of little patients will leave the OR with an open chest. A patch will cover up the opening to allow for the swelling to subside and to give the doctors access the heart at any time in case of bleeding or complications. After the swelling goes down and after a few days of monitoring (which of course has always the risk of infection) the chest can then be closed.
Just now - at 2pm - Dr. Kirshbom shared with us that, indeed, everything went just as planned. Olevander made it so well through the surgery that they were able to close his chest which could save him about 2-3 days at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).
Praise the Lord!
Thank you for all your prayers!
Gott sei Dank!
Habt Dank fuer eure Anteilnahme und Gebete!
Praise GOD!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to read your post that Olevander's chest was closed! Indeed, great news. I am amazed at how you guys seem to be taking all of this in stride - even with a switch in doctors! I have heard of Dr. Kirshbom and it was all positive - it sounds like his reputation held up. Hopefully Olevander is doing well tonight and will continue his persevering fight. In all of this we do not forget Richard's father and continue to send prayers. Hugs from all of us (including my parents who were here for a few days and send their best).
