A scorpion! - Ein Skorpion!

O Lord, how manifold are thy works! 
in wisdom hast thou made them all: 
the earth is full of thy riches.

The children are excitedly sharing a wildlife encounter with their Aunt Joy via Skype. After cleaning the church we had come across a scorpion: not more than an inch long but after playing dead raising its tail aggressively. Enough to give the kids a good first impression of this critter and a little bit of a scare.
So they eagerly take turns telling Jojo about it.
Eliane: Ja, and that scorpion looked like a little lobster - just with a tail.
Miriam added: And that thing could move, I tell you!
3 year old Olevander wants to be part of the conversation, too, so he shares: Yes, and it looked like a little ladybug!

We couldn't help but laugh because this comparison just didn't quite add up.
Poor little guy ... when he saw us laughing he laid his head down and was close to tears!

Die Kinder erzaehlen ihrer Tante Joy via Skype aufgeregt von einer
Tierbegegnung. Nachdem wir die Kirche saubergemacht hatten, sind wir einem Skorpion begegnet: nicht groesser als 2 Finger breit, aber nachdem er zuerst tot spielte, erhob er aggressiv seinen Schwanz in die Hoehe. Das gab den Kindern einen ersten Eindruck aber auch etwas Schrecken.
Sie sind also dabei, das bruehwarm Jojo zu erzaehlen und wechseln sich dabei ab.
Eliane: Ja, and that scorpion looked like a little lobster - just with a tail. (Ja, und der Skorpion sah aus wie ein kleiner Hummer, nur mit Schwanz.)
Miriam fuegte hinzu: And that thing could move, I tell you! (Und wie schnell er laufen konnte, ich sage dir!)
Der 3jaehrige Olevander will auch am Gespraech teilhaben und ruft aus: Yes, and it looked like a little ladybug! (Ja, und er sah aus wie ein kleiner Marienkaefer!)

Darauf mussten wir alle lachen, denn dieser Vergleich hinkte nun wirklich!
Der arme Kerl ... als er uns lachen sah, legte er seinen Kopf hin und fing beihnah an zu weinen!
