At the lake - Am See

Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, 
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Miriam wanted to build a little boat. I remembered a picture book of my childhood and suggested to work with bark . Papa suggested wood. So she got to work and built two boats. She searched for material, whittled, drilled holes, cut some fabric and sewed the sails, glued the mast, and got some help from us.


Das will ich euch sagen: Wenn ihr euch nicht ändert und so werdet wie die Kinder,  kommt ihr nie in Gottes neue Welt.
Wer aber so klein und demütig sein kann wie ein Kind, der ist der Größte in Gottes neuer Welt.

Miriam wollte ein kleines Boot bauen. Ich erinnere mich an ein Bilderbuch aus meiner Kindheit und schlug als Baumaterial Rinde vor. Papa schlug Holz vor. Also machte sie sich an die Arbeit und baute zwei Boote. Sie suchte nach passenden Stuecken, schnitzte, bohrte Loecher, schnitt Stoff zu und naehte die Segel, klebte den Mast und bekam natuerlich auch Hilfe von uns.

What a happy day to put her boats to water! There was no question about where that should happen: Fortunately we live close to Lake  Lanier and so there we went.

Was fuer ein frohes Ereignis, die Boote zu Wasser zu lassen! Keine Frage, wo das passieren sollte: Gluecklicherweise leben wir in der Naehe von Lake Lanier. Auf ging es!

Strahlendes Lachen einer Bootsbauerin!

Soon we are onto the next thing and that is teaching sister Eliane (3 1/2) how to swim. Olevander is watching things from the safety of the shore.

Bald aber geht es um etwas anderes, unzwar Schwester Eliane (3 1/2) Schwimmen beizubringen. Olevander beobachtet die Dinge von sicheren Ufer aus. 




































Big sister is very concerned when Olevander tasts some rocks. She will not have any of it!

Der grossen Schwester gefaellt es nicht, wenn Olevander Steine kostet. Das laesst sie nicht zu!

Now it is Olevander's turn to get a swimming lesson from Miriam.

Jetzt nimmt sich Miriam Olevander fuer einen Schwimmversuch vor.




But mostly it is about having fun in the water.

Aber das Wichtigste ist, sich im Wasser wohlzufuehlen.

What a gift: to grow up with siblings!
