The joys of Spring - Fruehlingsfreuden

So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Weshalb macht ihr euch so viele Sorgen um eure Kleidung? Seht euch an, wie die Lilien auf den Wiesen blühen! Sie können weder spinnen noch weben. Ich sage euch, selbst König Salomo war in seiner ganzen Herrlichkeit nicht so prächtig gekleidet wie eine dieser Blumen. Wenn Gott sogar das Gras so schön wachsen lässt, das heute auf der Wiese grünt, morgen aber schon verbrannt wird, wie könnte er euch dann vergessen? Vertraut ihr Gott so wenig?
